Welcome to the Tamarack Summer Camp Leadership in Training (LIT) program!
This program is for youth between the ages of 12 and 14. The program is designed to give youth all the necessary skills to volunteer at the camp. At 15 years old, the youth may be recommended to apply to become a junior counsellor, determined by their LIT mentors and camp management team.
The one week program includes both hands-on work with our campers, while under the guidance of our counsellors, as well as LIT group training with our leadership specialist. The training covers everything from conflict resolution and camper support to presentation/communication skills. LIT participants will learn what is expected of them as volunteers and how to best take advantage of the experience while having a great time.
Upon successful completion of the training week, LITs are “certified” to volunteer at the camp for as many weeks as they like within the same summer.
